I've been day dreaming about installing an electric heater in my console. One of these: www.sportsimportsltd.com/us-made-36-volt-ducted-electric-heater.htmlIf I install it higher inside the console than the vents, water won't be able to run up the ducts to the heater. Thinking of 2 vents aimed at the leaning post, one for the driver and one for the first mate. Even better would be my buddy's idea of unzipping his fly and running a duct straight into his bibs I think run time on my trolling motor batteries would be 5 hours or so continuous, but I contemplate just using it to defrost after getting wet and to knock the edge off the biting wind when running.

What's your point? Yesterday morning, I walked the 10 yards from my house to my barn shortly after showering.... My beard froze solid. That started the process of ciphering on a way to make fishing less painful.

I have used a buddy heater on the boat before. Its real nice to dry and warm your hands after catching bait.

Is that one of the small propane heaters that sits in a cup holder?

I have a Mr. Heater on my center console, put it on the floor between my console and lean post keeps it out of the wind, great for drying your hands off after releasing the 26-36 inch fish back to their cold home. Don"t stand too close, it tends to melt nylon rain gear when its not so cold out. Experience talking. lol The small cans last a couple hours.

You could install a couple of tractor batteries (each weighs about 45lbs, hook up a red devil blower (draws about 20amps on startup)would run about 18 minutes on DC current. That red devil blower would work good enough so I could fish along behind you and stay warm. Just saying? LOL-- I agree with Mward me thinks someone needs to MAN-UP a little. Me, I like to sit at home in front of the fireplace with a little Jack and Coke, in my fuzzy slippers, and picture myself in the boat with you guys freezing my butt off--nahhhhhh. Sip!

mward and striperjohn, I hope you post pics with your Tuesday fishing reports! I'd be out there but I have to work Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 13. Wind chill values as low as -12. West wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

I have seen the propane heaters that use a grill tank as the base, and the heater head just sets on top. Those things will burn for hours. I have thought about trying one, but I just bundle up real good instead. Def. not trying to catch my boat on fire on top of 44 degree waters!!!

Doesn't handle wind very well and would be tricky to secure
