Fished and duck hunted down around Belhaven and Swan Quarter last weekend. Weather was too good for opening day of duck season on Sat. We did get to pull the trigger but it was over pretty quick. Did see alot of ducks and geese on Lake Mattamuskeet. We fished the first day in the rain mostly but caught some fish. Pick up some puppy drum.... Even caught some stripers..... The weather did get better, but colder and we continued to catch fish. Had to work for them since we had never been down there before. The pattern we found the first day didnt hold up after the cold front hit. Wind layed down and we did find some fish... The weather was actually pretty good and we fished from sun up to sunset... Can't tell you what we fished with, since that's a secret... It's really pretty down there with tons of places to fish... There's a bridge in Belhaven that holds stripers and hybrids. We figure them out pretty quick and caught a limit every day...... Some were small...... Others bigger and appeared to be hybrids.... They fought hard for as small as they were..... We didnt do much on the duck hunt but I think I might have been able to shoot this group of mallards that swam by as we were docking on evening! There's places you can get out of the wind if needed.... A fun trip and we brought some meat back. It was delicious! Love fall fishing on our coast.

Nice report, the saltwater is fun. Wish I could go more often.
