Does anyone have any info on the old Chrysler Outboards? Were they any good? Seems they may have relations to the Force outboards and maybe Mercury?? And info and input on these outboards would be really appreciated!!!

If memory serves me.....the force was a basically a Chrysler .....far as the Chrysler....my best friends dad had one that he ran forever....they were not hi performance engines.....but good ole work horse engines long as you kept the oil mixed....

Chrysler became Force and then Mercury ended up with them. I think the biggest problem is parts for them. Know some parts for the Forces are no longer available. The Chrysler engines were behind Mercury and OMC in coming up with things. I would be careful in buying one to use. Just my opinion.

To see what parts are available, search for Serria Marine and download their catalog and you can see what you can get aftermarket. U S Marine was the name that owned them when they were Force. Mercury bought them and used them on a lot of their cheaper boats. Know Tracker used them and Bayliner sold a lot of boats with them on the back.

The old towers of power were very hard on fuel, I always heard they used it help cool the engine. Me I would keep looking, they were hard to keep running, points and such. I would save my money and try to find something with electronic ignition. I had a 120 tower of power on a 17'Winner could leave Moormans and go to Hales Ford and almost back on 18 gallons of gas, and gas was a lot cheaper those day. Just my thoughts.

How about a 1985 115 Mercury? Better on fuel, parts, ignition, etc?

Hey cheffy my buddy has a 1986 Merc 115 and he loves it. Runs great, and a beauty. Does eat up gas though. I will say that being someone who has spent a ton of time working on outboards, the older Merc carbs are quite finnicky. I'd go older evinrude personally. It's Pete by the way. I'm the guy who bought your rig off of you last year around this time. I'd he glad to help you find a motor out around our way!
