I'm shopping around for a new tank......man, they're not cheap!....I've looked at Grayline and a few others but you have to spend $400-$600.
I keep seeing the Keep Alive brand...a 30 gallon tank on ebay is $249 or so...anybody know anything about them? I see they come in insulated and non insulated versions...and the aerator has a few upgrade options...
Also....what size tank is most effective?...I've got a 20 gallon and after 4 big gizzard it's a mess. I guess "the largest your boat can handle" makes sense...but not sure I really need a 40-50 gallon?...appreciate any comments.
It really is amazing how the necessity to keep spending on fishing gear NEVER ends....

It really is amazing how the necessity to keep spending on fishing gear NEVER ends.... Guess that's why it's called a hobby As to size - it depends on what type of baits and how long you want to keep them. For ales, a 20 gal tank can hold a lot. For big gizzards, a 35-50 gal is best if you want to hold a fair number for a weekend of fishing. Not sure about the Keep Alive tanks - are they insulated, and do they have any filtration or just aeration.

I use two 14 gallon keep alive tanks. they are ok. If I had the money I would have a better bait tank though. The pump is in the tank and I have had shad get hung under the wiring or plumbing and die. also the little bit of filtration they have is not nearly enough. I always need to remove the pump and clean the filter 3 or 4 times in a days fishing. when the weather is cold going elbow deep in it several times a day to remove the pump and filter is not real fun. I don't own one so some of the other guys can correct me if I'm wrong but in a better quality tank like a super 2 it is not nearly as big a deal to change or clean the filter.

Jason - thanks for the heads up....I think we have the same boat.... I've got a Nauticstar 2110 sport....I'm assuming you put one tank forward, next to the bow platform and the other behind the console seat.... Smart. I'm gonna pass on the keep alive and keep hunting....

Take it from a "been there done that" perspective..you don't want a keep alive. You need a filtered tank. Keep your eye out for a used 30gal Super2, Creekbank, Bluewater, or Greyline (least favorite of mine). You'd be very upset spending $250 for a Keepalive. You should be able to pick up a used tank in the $250-350 range if you're patient.

There just isn't alot of room for a big bait tank without removing at least one seat witch I guess I will do if I can save up enough to get a good tank.
