I am a new Striper fisherman and have fished at Lessville for many years but never for stripers. I would appreciate any info on fall fishing for stripers.

lucky.. Im finding inconsistent patterns right now with all the weather changes. Most bigger fish I locate are scattered. Ive noticed the baitfish are seriously schooling up and can imagine the predators are somewhere close by. Ive been skunked the past 3 times Ive been out but had a tone of luck several times prior.

Thanks piper, Where would you suggest I start looking? The Dam, Or close to tri county. This time of year should I troll or fish down lines?
Thanks

Fall fishing means planer boards and big baits!!! Same patterns as spring for the most part. Try main lake points and shallow flats, secondary points and flats inside of feeder creeks as well as the back of the creeks are also productive. The water temps are dropping and the stripers are feeding heavily on shad chasing them up on points, flats and cruising the banks for a easy meal. Casting artificial swim baits, t'sticks, bombers, spooks all in those same areas can also be productive this time of year. IF you are putting in at the dam it would be worth hitting some spots down that way all way up to eagle point should be descent. Leesville can be a frustrating lake but this time of year beat the banks with bait and you will catch some fish. Put 17 in the boat yesterday and 10 or 12 were in less than 6' of water!
Just remember Spring and Fall- Planer boards cuz the fish are shallow and water temp is somewhere between 55ish and 70ish degrees
Summer and Winter- Downlines and jigging when the fish school up deep and the water temps are above 75ish or below 55ish
Of course you have the transition between the two as the temps change to warmer or cooler when fish can be caught either way also.

Thanks My guess would be to try above Tri County...perhaps after the turn toward the 3 pipes area. I trolled around for a majority of the afternoon from Pit stop , up to the turn, and all the way back down to Leesville dam. Marked 2-3 small schools. I didnt spend a ton of time in any given area persay but didnt see much. Plenty of shad to be had though.

Information doesn't equal location! Everybody always wants to know where, where did you catch them. Locations change..those that learn the patterns and techniques can adapt and catch fish any given day throughout the entire lake.

Bent, Im not looking for locations my friend. Im all about learning patterns and new things and studying the lake for myself. Im actually fascinated by some of the stuff I find. This is my 1st year focused 100% on stripers, and to say they intrigue me is an understatement.
Thanks for the info shad

Anyone that fishes leesville knows that there is almost no pattern....depending on the flow of water ( rising or falling) or a couple days of stable water makes predicting these fish kinda hard....I guess you can find them in any part of the lake but.....there is only a 4-5 mile stretch that you are likely to find them most any time

Same way I have already told ya in other posts...search it! 3 pipes are a cove on the right between eagle point and the pittsville ramp. Mile marker 9 or 10 Im thinking off my head. Its the dry bridge on tolers ferry rd.
