Greetings, Maaaaaan...its only been a little over a week and it felt like a year I was off the water. Talk about an addiction Hit the water bout 4pm-730pm...water temp 74 then dropped to 72. Airtemp...who knows warmish Went to the usual bait haunts. Found some decent schools however much more scattered. First few net fulls were small "peanuts" I guess you call em. Took 10 minutes to get the bastards out of my 5/8 net...a ton of gilled fish ...really sucked Took about 45min to catch a barrel full of nice ones and headed to our home. As mentioned by others fish were heavily scattered. Located a school early and put 3 in the boat lost 1... drifted to my favorite spot and BAM they were there again..I think Ive located a honey hole of sorts as ive nailed a school in this location every trip out. Put 5 more in the boat with the largest tipping 8-9lbs... missed 2 or 3 the others ranged from 1-6lbs...VERY Aggressive fish. Same experience though ...the 1st school required 4 passes before they took....the other took 2-3. Went over other schools 2-3 times but no takers...a few rod bumps. Not sure why they are finnicky but after they started it was on. Also caught a nice largemouth (3lbs) inside this school..funny he was hanging out with the stripers. All on live bait downlines 20-25 ft of water

Yea Im not sure about turnover..is that common this time of year? I will say I found it interesting around the old Marina. I looked down about 10 feet off the bank and there was a large "cloud" of dirt as if something had stirred it up... it went as far as I could see so that may be what your discussing.

Turn over is when the upper depths become cooler than the lower depths of the water column.

Turn over is when the upper depths become cooler than the lower depths of the water column. That is how I understood it as well, but in looking at the water temperature data gathered on SML over the last couple of years this never happens - the surface warms /cools and the lower depths warm/cool just at a slower rate but it never flipped. But yet we still hear and talk about "turn-over"..... I do think something does happen though when you'll get a big die-off in algae or something - sometime in Octoberish up around the flat in Hardy the water was a very weird bronzish color for a week or so as the water temps dropped......might have turned over up there where its shallow in that flat.....

I would question whether Leesville has a turnover with as much water movement as that lake has. On SML, I don't think the lower lake has any turnover but the upper lake creeks will sometimes turnover and get coppery looking.

You can usually smell it when it does, at least on the upper end,
