Water: 85 degrees, could feet visibility
Weather: over cast till mid-morning. Upper 70' rising to low 80's
Techniques: downlines with alewives and the occasional jigging with flukes and spoons
No, the subject line does not refer to plundering dozens of innocent fish - but rather the fact that this weekend is "Pirate Days" at SML
Went out about 9:30p to catch bait - was slim pickings till around 11 when the bait moved into the lights and became easy.
A chest full of silver doubloons
Pirate Days set the timeframe for fishing the morning as Matthew was planning to explore the various activities. However, Mark and I headed out about 6:30 in search of the booty - I mean fish.
Spent some time looking up the Roanoke side a bit before conceding and heading down to Becky's to join the fleet. Apparenty it was the Deck Boat Armada against the center consoles and pontoons today ;D
Met up with a fellow pirate who had a bit too much grog the night before and missed his "catch bait" wake up call, so we shared the wealth with he and his buddy so they could help take on the deck-boat armada with us.
Marked scattered fish, and they seemed to be generally uninterested. Our treasure map was not paying off today.
We apparently missed out shot at the big school but we picked up a few smaller fish - 4 on bait and 1 on a jigged fluke - one which will was given a reprieve from Davy Jones' locker and was invited to the Captain's table as a special guest......
Off the water about 11 as the waters turned evil......
Bigun - good to see you back out on the water...... And glad you got to witness my monster catch ;D. Cliff, good to watch you catch another nice fish right in font of me for the 2nd trip in a row
