I used them in the spring years ago, kept one rigged on a jighead and if they hit at a surface lure and missed it I would throw the curly tail in where they were. Still use a lot of them in saltwater.

I use the White Kalins 5" as my go-to trailer on my bucktails. It gives them a little more bouyancy and slower drop plus awesome action when using a steady retrieve. Of course that should not be confused with bass fishing, I use them for stripers. ;-)

Used the smoke, white, black, and had some bright yellow one that used to work good.

I've fished 4" grubs like the ones in the middle picture for 30 years. Guess I've caught about everything on one. Smoke is my favorite color.
