Okay guys, I may be asking something i shouldnt but im asking only because I want to learn. I know people catch bass on deep brush piles in the summer at Sml. I'd say we all know that. I can't say I have the best electronics on my boat nor am I great at decifering what that thing is showing. What I'm wondering is if any is willing to tell me a point they know has a deep brush pile on it that i can go look for and learn what it looks like on the water. I mainly fish on the roanoke side from the bridge to the state park. If you'd feel more comfortable sending a pm, feel free to. I appreciate anyone's help thats willing to share their thoughts. Good luck out there

Everybody knows about the one in front of the dock at the point at the Coast Guard station, its about 25' off the front dock in the cove. About 15 to 20' if I remember right, haven't paid a lot of attention to it lately, but I guess they still catch fish off it cause a lot of the bass guys run up and fish it.

watched some guys throwing deep diving cranks in the cove directly up from the state park, the one with the dare marina. They were in the middle of cove in about 40-60' of water. Large patch of submerged tree's 20' down. Watched them pull a couple of up.

I used to find empty 50 lb bags of dog food with holes cut in it floating or sunk in my little cove. Apparently people were chumming. I haven't seen any lately, hopefully they cut it out.

I think its called " airport cove" Basically its the next large cove going up river from the state park toward the bridge. Its actually a great spot to test electronics as there are a number of down trees, standing trees, and a great shoal to work off of. Also the boat traffic is good in that area outside of an idiot jet skier or 5 going 60mph ...I will say upgrading my electronics was the single best investment Ive made regarding fishing in a long time. Its a tough bullet to bite but well worth it if you have limited time like me.

Dog food, sounds like they were baiting for catfish.

Thanks guys for the help. I will definitely check out those two areas and see what I can learn. I know I need to upgrade my electronic but I'm holding off for a newer boat this fall and trying to make due for the time being.
