Don't add ice !!!! they stay the friskiest when you keep them as close to their original body temp...... prolly just keep, them in your mouth till you get ready to bait up.....

Clearly you need a Dannco and some yozuri pink! Yam, it's always good to have a little pink. Pink is definitely better than green.

Ok i have figured it out you all are crazy, still like the tips on catching shad i usually fish with dad, that means anchors and ales fished from the bottom. I am going to try some planner boards this fall hope this changes his way of thinking.

generally when i pull planars i like to pull gizzard shad. they tend to much more hearty than the ales so you dont have to keep bringing your lines in to change baits. and generally i like the larges shad i can find.

Is there a place or person to buy gizzard or ale from if I were down for a weekend of striper fishing?

Nope - selling shad is illegal in VA.

Anyone have any to give away later this month? I could donate someone's favorite beer.

Have you got a bait tank to keep them alive?

Yup. Kinda. My live well with aerator. Only about 20 - 30 gal. Coming down on the 19th, fishing early morning on the 20 - 22. Still going to try to net some but would like a bit of a sure source.

Coming up on Thursday and fishing all weekend. Any good spots to find shad for bait? Any good spots for striper? Again, if anyone has some extra shad or ale to lend, I would love the help.

As an aside: Definitely be careful of debris in the water from the recent storms.
