I'm having a Lowrance HDS7-Gen2 installed. Is anyone else using this unit? How does it differ from the Gen1?

Sonar setting wise there should not be any difference - same Broadband Sounder function
Overall the unit is much faster / more responsive than the Gen1.

change your scroll speed to match your speed.
When you are moving slow and your scroll speed is fast everything will look streched out.

Just had mine installed and played with it to day (Saturday) 10/13/12.
I had trouble finding fish on it, (maybe the lake is fished out!) Also couldn't find the structure scan in 3D or 2D which ever it is.
I'll take the settings you guys posted out with me tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the info!

Flathead - do you also have the StructureScan module? Can you see the SS screens OK?
The StructureMap only works on the Gen2 units (well, and the new Touch units). On a chart screen select menu and scroll to the chart overlay. StructureMap is one of the options for the overlay.
If that does not help, drop me a PM or start a new thread in the Electronics section with the questions.

Elite-7 DSI settings This is a good starting point especially if you use the Elite 7 HDI on your trolling motor. Sonar Auto Sensitivity=On Adjust: Sensitivity=-6 Colorline=58% Freq=83 kHz Ping Speed=Fastest Noise Rej+Low Surf Clarity=Off Color=White Background Amplitude Scope=Off Fish ID=Off DSI Options Auto Contrast=On Range=Auto Freq=455 Ping Speed=Fastest Noise Rej=Off Surface Clarity=High Split Zoom=Off Color=Blue Gradient Adjust=Auto Contrast and -2% Source from Bass Boat Central at the link below. I'm using these settings as well and they work great as a starting point. You can fine tune from there. Enjoy. www.bbcboards.net/lowrance-garmin-sonar-gps/389547-elite-7-question-about-dsi.html

Three women went down to Mexico one night to celebrate college graduation. They got drunk and woke up in jail, only to find that they are to be executed in the morning, though none of them can remember what they did the night before. The first one, a redhead, is strapped in the electric chair and is asked if she has any last words. She says, "I just graduated from Trinity Bible College and believe in the almighty power of God to intervene on the behalf of the innocent." They throw the switch and nothing happens. They all immediately fall to the floor on their knees, beg for forgiveness, and release her. The second one, a brunette, is strapped in and gives her last words. "I just graduated from Indiana University School of Law, and I believe in the power of Justice to intervene on the behalf of the innocent." They throw the switch and again, nothing happens. Again, they all immediately fall to their knees, beg for forgiveness, and release her. The last one, a blonde (you knew it), is strapped in and says, " I'm from NC State University and just graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and I'll tell ya right now, ya'll ain't gonna electrocute nobody if you don't plug that thing in." sorry!!!! lernin any japanese???
