saltwater charter in southern North Carolina

I'm down here in Carolina Beach, NC, just south of Wilmington for a week with my son. We caught some black drum from the pier, which was cool. I've been thinking of doing a charter, if I can find one that won't kill my Visa card. Maybe inshore if that is a lot cheaper.
Anyone have advice? Preferably area specific, like your uncle runs a boat down here, hehe. Or regarding charters in general. I haven't been on one before.

It's a little drive but if you can get down to Calabash you can jump on the Hurricane fleet for a head boat trip - mostly black bass and shark this time of year. I've not been aboard in a few years now but it was VERY reasonable compared to a charter. It's group, head boat fishing catching mostly smaller black bass but hey, it's a tug on the line and a way to get away from the beach for a morning.
