Just registered, although I have been lurking on the site as a guest for sometime. MWard told me about the site last year when I hit him up on another site for advice on fishing SML. My wife and I headed down last October, but we had trouble getting the boat in the water because drained all the water out . We could not even get on the floater dock..would have needed an extension ladder. Anyway, we are heading to SML on July 22 to spend the week with the whole family hoping to get tied into whatever will bite. Will be in a white skeeter bay boat with small accent stripes... Come over and say hello, or hail on the radio if you see us on the water. Alot of good info and advice on this site. Keep it up! Thanks Tom

Welcome mildog! Should not be any problem getting in the water this year - as long as the road to the ramp has not washed away Good luck to you all when you're here and we'll be looking for your report on how things went!

Good to hear!
Hope I can find a ramp within 5 miles of our rental. The community ramp is about 500 ft away, but renters cant use it. I will have to go to the park or Halesford I guess.
Will be staying in the cove that houses the Virginia Dare..about marker R22 I believe. Not sure the name of the cove. I don't have a name on the Navionics chart I have.

If you're in the VA Dare cove/creek (Walton Creek), then I'd think the State Park ramp may be the closest for you..... not a bad place to be in late July....

State park would be close to you and then Parkway marina, but it's a good way down the road. Where are you staying in that area, we stayed up in Holiday shores a couple of years ago, at my wife's uncle and aunts house. May be out Sunday night will have to see, I keep my radio on CorneliaGale is my call sign. Will post later on this week as I check the weather and things at home for the weekend. Also welcome to the forum, lake is at full pond now, good luck fishing Va.Dare had a marker put up WC-1, it is a private ATON (aid to navigation) I don't think it shows up on the map chips.

I am not sure the name of the subdivision. My Mother-in-law made the arrangements, but looking at Google Earth, if you enter the main cove ( you would be facing the VA Dare dock) and then bear left.. the house is straight back at the end of a small cove. Bayview Ct is the street name. I get a kick out of seeing that by boat from the park to the house is about 1/2 a mile as the crow flies...but by car it is about 10 miles.
Dont really have a call sign. I have a hand held VHF I usually just monitor. Not really much use for it at Lake Anna where I normally fish.
When we were there last year, we went to parkway to check the ramp and they were repairing a huge hole at the end of the ramp. Evidently not a factor when at full pool, but it was causing problems due to the water being so low.
Hope to see you on the water.

Thanks for the welcome.
