Do the shad come up faster when there is more light from the moon or when there is little light from the moon. Also Does rain affect them coming up?

My opinion is the darker the night, the better.

If you mean come up to spawn, during that season, which I think is over for this year, I don't know what affect the moon has. But in terms of coming to a dock light, if the night is dark then my light seems brighter by contrast and I get more bait to it. But if the moon is full and unclouded, then my light isn't standing out so much. I usually can still finds some, but the schools are smaller. Just from what I have seen. Does anyone know why shad come to a light in the first place? Do they like the light or do they eat something else that the light attracts?

I believe its the plankton that come to the lights first then the bait shows up to feed on them and the circle of life continues
