I left the house by 4:30 and was fishing before 5. Pulled alewifes (4 rods) from my 12' rowboat, no motor. Got 1 white perch and 1 channel cat the first 3 hours. Something kept killing the bait and letting go. Finally hooked up w/27.5" striper at 8:00 and caught a 25" one a few minutes after that. Both on downlines with 1 oz. The first one pulled the boat a lot. Kind of like an extra drag.
Moral is sleep until 7:30, I guess.

You have to hate those mornings you get up so early and the bite is late..... and I remember now the other reason what I hate summer - when the sun is cracking the skyline not long after 5am..... man, it makes for an early morning.....

I have a trolling motor. I am too lazy and/or cheap to register the boat. I like the oars. No battery to keep charged.
