Started by fished on the dark side - water temperature was 82-86. Pulled U-rigs while looking for some fish around mouths of creeks and around islands. Went into Gills creek Sunday evening after the storm thinking most folks had packed it in for the week end. Boy was I wrong - there were so many jet skis and wake boats etc, I just left!
Scouted up the Roanoke side from the S curves to just above the bridge. Found a nice school of stripers there and managed to pick up one fish. Got him off and back in the water as quick as possible with no pictures. Caught it on a down rod with alewife.
Day break to around 10 AM is the best time for me to avoid the pesky jet skis!

Day break to around 10 AM is the best time for me to avoid the pesky jet skis! AJK And that's the nicest time of day in July also. When I can get out I'm away from the dock at first light and back around 9 a.m., when the recreational folks are just finishing their Special K. (But I can't talk, I'm usually showered and back asleep inside before 11)
