I know some of you folks travel into other states Striper fishing. Anybody aware of any lakes around that have good topwater schooling in the fall. I really miss the action we had here on SML the last few years. I thought that weird warm spell in March/April last year messed it up here and they would start up again this year after the spawn, but alas it never occurred. At this stage in life I'm all about enjoying it. I want to get my grandchildren into some schooling stripers and just watch the excitement in their eyes. Started my son out that way early on and he's been gung ho about it ever since. I've fished Santee Cooper, in fact I worked as a guide on Lake Moultrie when I was not at sea down there from 72 to 77. I know the stripers are making a comeback down there as well. That's a ten hour drive and I think there must be something closer. I heard some Lakes in East Tennessee had some action starting in September into the winter, going to check that out this year. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, John

Striperjohn, I've done pretty good on top water in the fall in Roanoke Rapids lake in NC. It can be really hit or miss though. Its always better when they are generating though. The lake is really stumpy so you have to be careful, but the stump beds can be a good place to throw a pencil popper.

Watts Barr or Cherokee may have good action on top. I've only been on Watts twice but they broke for hours one time in June below Loudon Dam. Big fish too.
