Since my last trip was in the rain I had to leave most of the boat hatches open and my gear out to dry so I decided to run up, play hookey and get the boat buttoned up before the holiday weekend. I came up Wed night and while getting the boat ready I saw some flipping off the dock and caught a couple of dozen alewives. Threw them out later on a couple of rods and caught a 5.5 lb flathead and a borderline citation crappie before packing it in. The next morning I went out with the intention of fishing for a couple of hours and coming back (I am supposed to be working remember) and made the run to my favorite spot that produced 2 weeks ago. Fished for 1.5 hours and picked up one dink on a downline so I moved a couple of miles and found them. Fished for 2.5 hours and caught 12 and lost 2 more at the boat with another half dozen pull downs and misses. Had 2 doubles (just like last trip) which is always fun when you are by yourself. Biggest fish was 11 lbs so still no size but I was using 4-6" ales and only had a few gizzards which went quickly. Light lines run 50' behind the boat were the ticket and I ran downlines also but never caught a fish other than the first one on downlines. Was pulling them right thru the schools and got one pull down but they wouldn't touch them other than that. All in all a good day on the water. Water surface temp was 71 degrees.

I'm glad to hear your fishing. I haven't caught any stripers since last fall. Way to go Wish, keep after em.

Ha! Yeah, I had to try though. For the record a wise man told me it doesn't matter if it is your favorite spot if there are no damn fish there. He was right...thanks T. Ralph, come down and we'll go, anytime.
