Well I have had some crazy voodoo luck as big jon called it lately resulting in our washer and dryer going out, lawn mower blew up, Boat broke down, timing belt broke in Brandi's car, and thermostat sticking in my truck and overheating. All this has occurred in the past 3-4 weeks. Well Ive been scratching my way back out this hole and got a brand new lawn mower, finally got her car fixed yesterday along with my truck and managed to get the boat fixed this past weekend.
So this afternoon after work we took Randi and her friend out on the lake to do some swimming and around 7, I decided to put out a spread of umbrella rigs. Heading up lake to a spot I wanted to try we ran into a school of stripers busting and blowing up on peanut shad. We scrambled to get the spoons off and get some top water stuff on, but by the time we got done they got done....
They came up a few more times in different places but not long enough any time to get to em and make a cast so I decided to head up from em and put the U'rigs out and come back through the area. I ran 2 rigs through at 15' and the other at 25' but no takers. The trash was horrible and constantly having to pull in clean off and reset. We ran into some more busting schools here and there and finally had one shallow rod go off and pulled in a small schoolie.
Had the deeper rod go off shortly thereafter with what seemed like a bigger fish but he was only on for a few seconds.
Definitely was nice to get back out on the water for the first time since memorial day and finally relax and spend alittle time with the family. Since its so trashy for trolling I think ill get back out with some down lines and probably do a lot better.
