Made it up late yesterday and stayed at the point. Bait was 2 throws and done for ales and 25 throws and nothing for giz's so I went armed with a bunch of med-large alewives for bait. Decided to fish my personal favorite spot on the lake and I had it all to myself. Set out the spread (6 planers 2 downs and 2 floats) and within 5 minutes both down rods went down. Actually managed to get both in the boat (twin 6 lbers) and although they were not big the ensuing mess closed me down for 30 minutes while I untangled stuff and got situated. Got another on soon after and lost it then another double, got 1 of those in. Lost one more and that was it. Lost the school and after an hour of looking gave up on them. I tried a few other places to no avail, got rain in places that have never been wet before and had a great day all in all. All the action was in the first 45 minutes (30 of that spent untangling stuff) and I thought I was going to have a day for the ages but it was not to be. Everything was on the downlines and hit at 30FT in 50-55FT of water. Water surface temp was 61.4F. All fish were small...except for the 2 I lost....they were state records.

Nice, glad to hear you got into some!
I hear ya on the state records..I caught two state records last weekend and they were just 14lbers hooked in the belly and the eyeball. I cried.

Well, they weren't anything to write home about but considering the weather, east wind and the fact that I hadn't fished since I saw you that day back in Campers I'll take it! Sorry about your state records but mine really were... ;D Not sure why those 2-80 lbers were hanging with the 6's though...must be a spawning thing...

Is that old saw really true on SML:
Wind from the east fishing least; Wind from the North, stay in port; Wind from the south, bait blows in their mouth; Wind from the west, fishing is best.

Don't know about all the others but VERY seldom do I catch fish with an east wind. I usually stay home when that happens. I fish rain, snow, sleet, cold, hot and wind but not east wind and try to avoid high pressure.

Ha! Well AJK I am old now and while I used to enjoy dry farts and wet dreams I find that I have more dry dreams and wet farts these days.
