I’ve been looking forward to this trip for a while, already planning another for the near future. Brother-n-law, nephew, and myself got a campsite and kayak shuttle with New River Campground and Canoe. Cool place. We had an 11:00 am shuttle yesterday morning to do a 5 mile float back to camp. We were in the water and set around 12:15. Short ways down stream was some good water so we beached the yaks to work it thoroughly and we were successful. Caught 15 or so between us 3 at our first stop. Moved on down a bit, found some more good holes, same thing. This happened quite a bit along the way. We stretched the 5 mile float to about 6 hours, ended up with well over (40) smallmouth, and (1) red eye.
Most were 12”-14”, had a few 15”, and (1) 18”. Really fun day.
