Took Thursday and Friday off this week and was PUMPED to go fishing on my boat - not sure I’ve actually really fished on it since April last year after running into issues every time I went. This trip would be no different, and lucky for me I had Yam aboard bc I probably would have put it back in the slip and listed it on Craigslist in frustration. We had a huge crack in the fuel line with fuel leaked all over the bilge (somehow the boat ran on plane with this crack?) - we made the mistake of trying to rinse it out before making sure the bilge worked so then we had fuel all over the floor and it was so slick we could barely stand up. Got the leak fixed easy enough and then the bilge fixed thanks to Yam’s tireless efforts and Capt Quarters. Finally, about midday, we were after bait and Yam rounded up probably 3-400 7”+ gizzards in no time and we picked through them for the biggest ones. Then Yam tied up every single rod with fresh leaders - he wins the first mate of the day award. After that, it was on to fishing - Yam wouldn’t touch a rod that bent over either - I may trade in Mward for Yam! We tried a lil spot I like first and nailed a 22lber right off. Yam is crazy like me, which I like bc as soon as we caught that, I said “Let’s get out of here” and he was in total agreement. We hit another creek we frequent and had another 20+lb fish on and fought it up to the boat for a good while, but during the fight the wind had pushed us near a blowdown and when that fish saw the blowdown near the boat, he dove hard for it and the hook pulled right out. On to the third creek pull, and while Yam was netting one 20lber, another rod buried and Yam made me reel in another 21lber. “Yam, let’s get out of here.” Prolly should have stayed there, because we started talking about reaching a record 5 citation day, and things slowed down on the big fish front. All in all, one of the better days fishing I’ve had on SML thanks to Yam!
Alright enough Mward talking, and on to the pictures and info. Water was 49-54. BIG (HUGE if you can find it) freelined shad was what it took for the big girls. Ran shad about 6-10ft behind the board. An occasional “burn n turn” would draw some strikes.

Yam sent me this - pretty funny
