11/3 - beautiful warm fall evening high 70's in the afternoon WT 65
11/4 - drizzle and overcast - cold front - high in the low 50's - WT 62-65
11/5 - overcast, dry, high in the mid ot upper 50's - WT 62-65
I took off work early on Friday and made it to the lake around 3:00 and was in search of bait about 3:30. Bait was very easy to find in a nearby creek. 2 throws and I had 4 dozen dollar bills on board. I pulled some boards that evening on some main channel points and never got a sniff but I was ready for the morning. Did a quick water change and headed to bed.
Saturday woke up to mostly dead bait and wasnt sure what was wrong with the tank....got rid of the dead ones, changed water again and still had about 15 or so baits so headed out to fish. Traveled pretty far upriver and fished for a few hours and caught one fish at the mouth of a small creek. Stopped to catch more bait - still plenty of bait but now I had to sift through a ton of peanuts to get what I wanted.
2 hours later my bait is dying off again?!?!?! I head back to the dock and take all of the bait out and empty the tank and start looking at what could be wrong.....I had put a new air-flow regulator on my air line and thought that may be the culprit but it was pulling air.....pulled the Dannco out and""DOH!!!" I put the Dannco on backwards after cleaning the tank last time out. I had the outside piece with the flow correctly but the inner section was backwards.
So back to the lake with my half dozen remaining baits and I set out to fill the tank up again. Only now bait was hard to find. I threw near a couple of docks and caught a 20 pound turtle on one throw....and then a 10 pound striper in another throw....got a tip as to bait location from another board member and headed that way and finally filled the tank back up with a couple dozen dollar bills and one mongo. Pulled boards all over the upper sections of the lake the remainder of the day and never got another bite. but at least I wasn't skunked and will now always make sure I put my dadgum Dannco back on correctly.
Sunday - bait was all frisky and much happier this morning. Headed to a creek that is midway up the BW and put baits out and caught 2 fish and missed another in the first hour of fishing in the back of the creek along the bank. Fished a few more hours and grabbed one more fish on a main river point a few hours later and called it a day.
Fish didn't seem to be in any particular location or pattern
For the weekend we caught 4 total, 3 fish on un-weighted planers...one in the center of a creek mouth....one in the back of a creek along the bank....and one along a main channel point and the 4th fish on a 2oz downline on the lakeside in the middle of a creek.
