I have a Hummingbird 859 CI HD depth , bottom imaginingand gps. Pulled into the lake this morning turned it on , the hummingbird popped up on screen and it shut down , checked fuses and I have power to unit. It's been kept inside always never left out .
Is there a reset on the unit ? Anyone every had this problem?

I have an 1199 SI that'll shut down (usually right after the first time I power it up) but it'll restart for me. Have you downloaded all of the updates for your unit?

No I haven't .is there anyone that repairs Marine electronic s around the lake , Hummingbird wants $300 to fix it . Bought extended warranty at Gander Mountain so I suppose that. Doesn't exist anymore.

You might wanna call the HB customer service line. Ask for Greg H. I'll bet they'll find a way to honor the GM warranty after you explain.
As for the closest electronix tech, I'd guess that would be Anglers' Choice in Martinsville if they have one. My experience has been dealers and service reps do replace vc repair. It's just too easy to say, "call the manufacturer."
On the updates - the reason I asked was because one of the updates for my 1199 was for a power issue. Something in the original software would cause the unit to power down without reason or warning. One of the updates fixed it. Before you call HB I REC you spend a few mins on the My HB site reviewing the updates for your model. The fix for your issue may be an SD card away.

Good advice here. HB Greg is THE MAN!!! My favorite side imaging forum is www.sideimagingsoft.com Check it out there is a WEALTH of knowledge there. These guys are electrical engineers, etc. They made something called the LOWBIRD where they made a lowrance LSS-2 fit into a Humminbird. Thats the kind of stuff these doods are about! |
