Made a quick evening trip with a friend of mine to do some scouting and some fishing. The water temps have rose back up to 78-80 degrees but the fish are still fairly shallow in the water column. I marked lots of scattered fish in the 10 to 20 ft range over open water. There was sporadic breaking with 1 or 2 fish busting bait pods here and there. We pulled free line gizzards on boards with about 20 feet of line behind each board. 1 float rigged the same and 1 free line gizzard 75 feet back. Fishing itself was slow. We were all in the fish but only had 2 bites and lost 1 of those at the boat.
