Weather: Slightly overcast early to partly cloudy in the afternoon, mid 70s to mid 80s, light wind. Water: 75-79 degrees. A little stained in some places, others 2-3 feet clarity. Method: Gizzard peanuts to dollar bills, free lined on planers. Hours Fished: daybreak to 3:00pm This post is late but we had a busy weekend, and a Monday's worth of digging out. Hadn't been to the lake since April and had this past Friday off so I thought I'd put in some water time. Hit the ramp before daybreak and decided to pedal to a bait spot while I watched the stars disappear. This spot had been generous to me last fall so I figured I'd start there. I passed up what looked like parking lots of peanuts along the way, but that wasn't what I wanted, I wanted at least some bills and a dozen at that. Took me a while to get to my spot but I had my dozen within a few minutes. I started pulling a nearby bank and had some activity right away but mostly just wimpy pull downs that I suspected were LMB. After an hour or so I finally hooked one. Better than nothing, but the morning was gone and the water was getting hot. After lunch, and no love from the stripes, I started fooling around with my GoPro, trying to get some video of the bait that was all around my boat. That did the trick, and I landed a 29". Nice way to bring in the fall. Here's a pro tip for you, these are good on a boat...
