First time out since June and first time on upper Roanoke since this past spring. Put in at Moormans and went on the bait hunt. Plenty of small bait between RR trussels. Kept a few just in case and went on bigger bait hunt. Found some dollar bills in the back of a creek in 12-14 feet of water. Pulled free line boards for a couple of hours and only had a couple of pull downs, no hook ups. Started searching up river and marked bait and fish off the end of a point. Dropped down lines (about 35-40 feet) and a free line float out back. First fish on in less than 3 minutes on down line. One more on down line and one on the float within 50 yard stretch. Thunder rumbling so called it a day shortly after lunch time.

Nice day! I was finding bigger bait in with the smaller bait. Just had to weed out the little ones.

Thanks for the report, did you have any trouble launching your boat at moormans? I heard the water is down alot, plan to go this weekend. Didnt know whether to go to hardy or moormans

Lake level when I put in was 792.3. Just ease it back and you should be fine. I launched and loaded my 18 ft center console by myself with no problems.
