So choochoo and myself decided to brave the holiday traffic and try and get some early morning fishing in. We headed out just before daylight to catch bait and upon lowering the trolling motor in the water.... no power! Choochoo was gracious enough to throw the net while I was crawling around to switch some batteries to get us at least some power for fishing. Bait was not quick and easy especially with no trolling motor. Got us some power but decided to save it for fishing. So I jumped on the back and started throwing my second net while drifting. We finally got tired arms and enough good bait and headed down lake. Hit an area on RR where I have had luck and put our set out. 20 min in we had a fish on. Boated a small frisky (approx) 25" fish on a 6" gizzard. WT was steady in the area @78.5. Soon after the little bit of power we had depleted and we resorted to drifting down lines. No luck in that area so we headed toward the dam. Set up a drift again with some big Gizzards after we marked a few fish but got nothing except nervous baits. By this time the crazies had started and it was already getting HOT! We didn't have a skunk on the boat and we got to share some spots and stories so it ended up being a pretty good day. Especially the way things started out.
1 month old ProMariner Tournament on board charger was the culprit for the power issues. It was showing charging but after testing was only 3 volts output. After inspecting the extension cord I suspect it was hit when my well pump got hit by lightning that was just a few feet away. Luckily the batteries held a charge after being put on a desulfating pulse charger for 12 hrs.

Sounds fun, was the one you caught behind a board?

Sounds fun, was the one you caught behind a board? It was behind a board with a 3/4 oz weight to get the bait down some but above any of the random trees that are in the area. Bait was about 15 ft down.
