Cut my trip short in Murrells Inlet to come home and get back on the lake for a day before heading back to work. Hit the water at 5 am and bait was tough in my go to spot so didn't get a line in until 7. Water temps had dropped to 79 and had overcast skies most of the morning. The green fish were all over our shallow side boards as soon as they hit the water. Put some of them in the boat including my PB LM at just over 7lbs on a 9" gizzard. All released of course. Was running low on bait so went into a cove where I have marked bait before and found a huge school of Gizzards on top finning around. One lucky throw and we were back in business with 60+ shad 5-12". Sorting through that big slimy mess to get 16 good baits was not fun and my purge tank is still a mess. Went down the lake some and fished a bit deeper and managed to boat a 27'" and a 32" striper. Had 2 more light hook sets that weren't on for more than a couple seconds. The 32 was gut hooked and kept for the freezer. 27 was released because he was caught close to the boat and the fight was short. Called it a day because the freezer is pretty full from Murrells Inlet fishing and don't want to waste a good fish. Both boated striper were caught in 30-50ft of water near a shallower flat or hump on 9+" gizzards.
