Weather: Mild and clear Water Temp: 76F Bait: Medium to large alewives. 1 dollar bill gizzard Tackle: 3 right side planers, 1 left side planer and 1 free line out back Tactic: Pulled planers across main channel points
Started out last night catching bait in our cove from the dock, not bad but have had better as far as size but plenty of numbers. On the water by 5:45am with plans of heading towards Bernard's landing but my engine was acting funny so cut it short in the area of R26. Put out a spread of alewives and a 27" striper on by 6:30am. Hit the left side board in 100ft, was figuring on a Catfish at that point. Freshened all bait and threw on the only gizzard I had, 100 yards up I wasn't paying attention and grabbed a floating 2x6x10 with him....NO!!! Oh well replaced with an alewife. 7:30am huge slam on the back right side board, 32" striper in the boat and tagged out, now what?! Called the wife and our kids were up early so went and got them to finish out the morning with more tags. The crazies started early so it was rough trolling in our little boat so cut up through the shoals at Crystal Shores and landed a nice smallmouth. Called it quits at 9am. I don't like harvesting fish over 29" even when the slot is out but the bigger one was belly up when I brought it to the boat so decided to harvest instead of taking a chance.
Also tried the nightbite 11pm 6/9 -1am 6/10. No love, plenty of bait rolling but not many feeding fish on the points I checked

Great report! Hope your engine is OK. Nothing wrong with harvesting fish for the dinner table... That's what God put them here for AND put us in charge of stewardship for harvesting and maintaining the resource. My wife and I just finished an excellent striper dinner tonight!
2 days ago I found stripers way up in the creeks just north of Crystal Shores in the early morning hours if you are trying to beat the boat traffic. Good Luck!
