We fished the tournament to see what we could do. I had to work Friday and the kids had school so we did not get out till Saturday. We pulled a mix of bait and sizes on free line planers. We even pulled some large crawfish right next to the banks with the thought of a LM or SM. We had some luck but all where in the slot. Nothing on the crawfish. We fished for catfish at night but got skunked. When we returned to the dock, while I was cleaning up so we could get some sleep to go out Sunday my son caught this 37" while casting for bass. All fish were successfully released

Wow - that must have been a bit of a surprise when trying to catch a bass!

Congrats to your son on a length citation! Heck of a fish casting!
Not wild about weight tournies with the slot - becomes a chase for the heaviest 29.9999" fish unless someone lucks on on a 40"+ (which is very possible now) vs the best fish caught during tourney window. That's one big reason why we are doing the catch-photo-release model with the Striper Mafia tournies.....

He had no idea what he had all he kept saying was it was big. Would like to have gotten some better pictures but the fish was pretty wore out due to the fight with the small bass rod so we wanted to get him back in the water. Luckily it was only a couple seconds and he was up and going.
