First real time out this spring. I have been busy with my own home projects this winter. With these, grandkids, deaths in the family, it has been a long winter. I even removed all my batteries and took them home so I would not be tempted to fish. Being down on the lower section of the lake, the winter time ride at 20 degrees can be a little chilly. I wanted to head out Sat. early, but one of my neighbors was having electrical issues on his boat. After helping him I headed out toward the mountain to pull boards. After 10 minutes and my boat side-ways from all the wind. I headed to a well known cove. I picked up a 23" fish right out of the gate and I thought this was a good move. I worked that whole cove and didn't get a sniff. I saw a lot of boats come and go. As I headed back out, a number of boats were fighting the whitecaps or just anchored. I had some projects to work on and headed back. WT67-70.
Sunday. I headed out early and headed towards Vista Point. I fished from the point going to BW past the Vista Point. I marked fish, but no takers. I then headed up the Roanoke to a place that has been productive this year. As usual, they were catching something before I got there. We again marked fish, I did get a hit on a board as I was setting board. I still had the line in my hand. It popped the planer and then was gone. I fought the wind and had a lot of excited bait. Sun was a bust, but I did kick the skunk off Sat.
I had plans to come up after work last night, but when I saw the weather forecast on Sun. and the storms coming through, I released the bait and buttoned up the boat until next weekend.
Again, thank you guys for posting through the winter and spring so us who are still putting in 40 plus hours a week can see that SML is still alive and well.
