Just checking what the board thinks. I have been fishing since the start of the lake. We used to go to Ceder Key in the 70s/80s every spring about this time. Going up this weekend and I am down at Smith Mountain Dock and Lodge. Thinking about going over to Ceder Key this year. Can also do Craddic Creek or Bull Run area. Even up to the State park area. Just checking to see what those out on the lake the past few weeks think about spots for pulling planners and if Ceder Key is anything like it used to be.
My name is Robert Paulson

im not as knowledgeable as many of the other guys on here. but i dont think Cedar Keys is what it was back in the days. But it is the time of year that more fish are down in the lower lake in places like Craddock Creek. Im not saying you cant or wont catch fish in Cedar Keys, just based on the stories ive heard over the years that it isnt the hot spot it once was and hasnt been for years. someone please correct me if i am wrong here, as many of you know the lake much much better than me...

It's worth fishing near that area I'll tell you that much - the fish are down there by the thousands now. I don't know about Cedar Keys specifically, but I would look long and hard at Craddock and the dam areas, Elmo, etc. - lower ends of both rivers should be good as well.

And there's still fish that aren't down there yet or are still heading that way. It was a lot of fish schooled up just above the state park last evening. Smaller groups, but a lot of them.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like it is time for me to go back to my regular spots instead to going up river like I have been doing this winter.
