Friday evening There were two million peanuts in my cove and nothing bigger than 5". Got enough of those to fish and then went looking for bigger bait but got ran off the water by storms. Caught ginormous herring off our dock under the light. Thane never seen any this size before and there were loads of them all the same size.
Anyways to make a long story short we fished a lot of different places until about 11 Saturday morning and got very little action and no fish. Bypassed an area or two that had a lot of people fishing, including guides, but we don't like to do the striper Congo.
Before lunch the bigger gizzards had replaced the peanuts so we put 15 or so in the tank. Felt better about fishing with them. Took a nap while it rained and went back out about 4. Skunked again for the afternoon. Plenty of nervous baits but no takers. Just the way it goes I guess.
Didn't fish Sunday morning although it did look awful fishy when I woke up...shoulda went!
Did catch a 28 lb flat head on a medium action spinning rod. That was fun.
Hope the tournament guys caught more fish than us. It was slow slow. Didn't really see hardly any boats on BW and everyone looked as bored as us.
