Time: day break
Bait: large, dollars, money makers and a mongo.
Water temp: 65° start, 69° end.
Techniques: bank and channel boards (Redi-Rig), free float and one down.
Results: one 28" on the dollar down.
Two things that made it worth it: First thing: Gave a boat load of people a show when the down line went down by going to get the pole when my right foot snagged the landing net forcing me to my knees on the rear deck, retrieved the pole, went to establish my left foot and proceeded to step into my opened live well, forcing me to put my weight back onto my rear/buttocks which went downward toward the bottom of the boat forcing both feet upwards along with my right hand and all the while holding onto the pole with the left hand and laughing so hard that it brought tears to my eyes. Righted myself and proceeded to reel in and land the only fish of the day. Second thing: Was pulling Mongo on the float, noticed it running towards deeper water, it then started to run towards the boat, like in the movie Jaws. Thought that maybe something had a hold of it, so, I reeled up to the float, which was now passing the boat. Released the float and proceeded to reel up to Mongo. Tried numerous times to reset the float, bUT Mongo would swim towards the trolling motor. I was doing 1.1 MPH. Thought about thumping Mongo to slow him down, but, then decided to replace him with a smaller, slower dollar. Mongo was released to be caught another day. Was thankful that I didn't have a gopro.
Peace out.
