@penhook - you have asked where to find bait a number of times already on this forum and you have received answers each time. At some point you just have to go do it. I spent many hours on the lake learning how to catch bait, even after reading this forum and gaining a general guide of where and how.
Nobody is going to come point at the water and tell you throw "here" and you will catch them. The reason they won't is they will not know exactly where they are until they get on the water and throw a net....and if they don't catch any they will move and try a different spot and keep trying.
I have spent 5 minutes trying to get bait and got more than I could ever use....and i have also spent 5 hours trying to get bait and couldn't believe how little I got. It is not an exact science but if you don't start reading and comprehending the replies to questions you have asked people are going to stop answering.
Get out there and try it....and if you are not successful come back here and explain where and how you did and you will more than likely receive a lot of pointers on how to do it better next time.

I've read and seen these posts far to many times in the past few weeks. I can understand if you are wanting to gain information on how to fish....wait...that's been spoke about in the how to section. Never mind, ok well I could understand if you were looking for info on how to fish live baits for striper on smith mountain lake...no that's been explained already as well. (Also with a link guiding you to the exact page to read and get a wealth of information.) we'll never mind that as well. Ok ok, well I could understand if you wanted to ask and get info on the seasonal movements of striped bass on smith mountain lake.....well no no that's been detailed as well on here. Never mind. Here's what I'm getting at, if you want to learn about the fishing, do what all of us have done and do your reasearch, read past posts, take advise, and most importantly just go fish and learn from mistakes. It takes time to figure out what net to throw for types of bait and so on and so on and so on. The best lessons that I have learned from is when I've screwed up, and that's not just at fishing that's all around. If you out the time in on the water then you will learn and gain knowledge of the type of fishing that you want to do. I can tell you that NO ONE will hold your hand and say go here and you'll catch fish or catch bait. because that's not at all what happens when we all go, one day the fish may be there, the next they are not. Hope you take the time to read past posts, and visit the how to section of this forum.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't take away it's account...... .....unless you're a moderator.
However, you can stop leading the horse to water.

Your exactly right yam, I said my piece and I'm done. I've already received a nice polite little pm that I'm ignoring to respond to.

No need getting a attitude because people are trying to help you understand. Every question you have asked regarding stripers is already answered in the how to sections. If something needs more clarification then by all means ask. No problem there. We are all here to help those who will help themselves.

For the record, I wasn't kidding - skipjack herring is the best live bait there is for stripers IMO.
