WT 48.0 to 48.7 Weather...light rain... Fog... Overcast.. Highs in the low 50's Got to the lake friday evening and went out to catch bait. Only able to find dollar bills so loaded the tank with them and got to bed around 11. Woke up Sat morning and hit a nearby creek where I have been having success lately. Got to the spot I wanted and there was another boat there... I believe this was a forum member as well... Quack was that you? We pulled that creek and some nearby main channel points and picked up 9 very healthy fish that ranged from 26 to 30 inches. The most excitement came from a 29 inch fish that launched itself completely out of the water while attacking a bait. He missed the bait on the launch but swung back around and inhaled it. 3 of the 9 fish were on downlines/lightlines and all others were on bank side planers. Went back out to the same area Sun morning. Lots of activity and fish buzzing baits early and no hookups. About 8:00 that changed when we had a light line get slammed and double the rod over. My buddy Doug grabbed the rod and the fight was on. The fish took him completely around the boat until we were finally able to land him. 34 inch fish which was the largest my boat has landed so far but was not a PB for Doug. We spent a considerable amount of time trying to revive the fish and get it to go back down deep... After many attempts and circling back around we were able to get it released but we tangled just about every rod we had in the process. Only caught 2 more fish the rest of the morning and called it quits around 11. 2016- one fish caught over 30 inches 2017- already 3 fish over 30 inches

Great work. It's hard to know who's getting better, SML or us fishermen. Hopefully both!

Sounds like the new boat has brought good luck! Hard to describe how happy I am with the new boat. Absolutely love it. Lots of room, comfortable...and easy to clean. Just throw 5 gallon buckets of water onto the deck and let it all roll off!

Wasn't me. I was on wife birthday duty this weekend....
My rig is a 17' sailfish skiff.
Nice fish! Need you to go on and catch a 38" so I believe there are actually some on the BW.

Nice work Chris! I think the topic of fish/no fish on the dark side has been thoroughly vetted....ithere's consensus that the only 30+ Fish in the BW are part of the infamous stringer stock. Chris - you probably need to check the GPS on the new rig....you were clearly on the Roanoke.

Y'all think I kid. You're very likely to see a lot more of me on the BW side come Marchand not just for the paint can cocktails. I'm going to be chasing the 45" fish that Kenny Short released last Spring.....
