Well, Arrived right at 30 minutes before daylight. The big shad saw me coming, so, I had to use peanuts. I also came to the conclusion that my cast net skills are lacking, to say the least. I did get a couple looks, and even a smell or two. But, in the end, I did make it back to the ramp in one piece. Peace out.......

I guess you want the short version. Went fishing. Caught nothing. Went home.
Just trying to make the skunk smell better.

Hang in there and keep looking..... you are very close to quite a few fish from where your boat is sitting at the ramp.

Good report! Is there a landing fee at Oak Grove? If so, how much is it?

It is a free, public boat ramp. There is a fishing deck there also. The only problem is the parking lot is up a hill and the additional parking lot is just across the road. I'm not complaining, because they did such a nice job with the land that was available, but, when you're by yourself, you are away from your property and out of sight if it. There is also a bathroom there, no running water or electricity, but, a bathroom none the less. Google maps is updated to show you a satellite image.

We left the ramp at sun up but got skunked. Chased bait around and jigged a little, next time!

When I say close, I mean within a 1/2 mile. Won't say if it's up or down, but will say in the main channel.

From the looks of your first picture, it seems to me that you know what your doing! You must have yourself one of them there "magic" nets that stays open deep. The only trick now to that net is to let it hit bottom fully then slowly but swiftly get it to close on the bait you have trapped.

Nice shot of the net falling , looks like a nice pancake. Always difficult to catch bait that deep. I feel your pain with the sniffers. They come off the bottom and check out your bait and go right back down. Happened this last weekend a lot at Lake Anna where I just about got skunked
