Weather: Cloudy, temps around 40, light winds Water: 47, visibility of just a few feet Techniques: pulled dollar-bill sized gizzards on freeline planers (3) - and one light-line out back for grins Had not planned to fish today as the weatherman was calling for bad winds most of the day - so slept in till about noon and around 2pm it looked nice and fairly still outside so I decided to suit up and ride out to at least catch some bait for New Years Day and maybe chase birds or pull some bait into the New Year. Got to the creek where I wanted to catch bait and it was a lot more scattered than two days ago - had to work up and down the creek to find piles of bait large enough to throw on - and it was mostly 15-25 deep over 20-30' of water - netted three dozen or so dollar-bill gizzards and a few money-makers - but no really big ones today. About 4pm I was debating going to chase birds and jig or just pull some bait - decided it was less gas to pull bait in the creek where I was so out came the planer boards and started pulling. Fairly quickly I was hooked up - but just as quick it was off. I worked that section of bank and another several times until I could not see my boards - had 5 hits and at least 3 hooks-ups but I could not stay hooked-up today..... end of year curse I guess...... Well, I did land one fish..... dang 5.5 lb bait stealer..... I gave it a end-of-year try looking for one last big fish of 2016 - and will be back at it in the morning to start off 2017.... I'm coming for ya!

I wish I had that tank of bait....I really need to work on my deep-bait catching skills.
