Hello to all of you out there who are crazy enough to Brave the cold and still go fishing. It's been exactly a year since I last posted here and I apologize for not filing a fishing report back then. This time around i promise not to ask too many questions, instead maybe give some information for those who are still learning the basics. Appreciate everyone who answered my questions last time around, I always tell people about this forum because I think there's some really knowledgeable and good people here.
I fished a couple of inlets around the state park with some giant 5 to 6 inch ales that I caught over the last couple of nights. Yesterday morning between 9 and 11 a.m. I caught two 27 and a half inchers and then two more at Sunset with the largest at 28 and a half inches that Weighed 8 pounds and 10 ounces. I caught them on down lines about 20 feet deep in 35 feet of water. I missed about six other bites. Caught a 24-inch at sunset today.
I'm well aware that the top fishermen here are catching gizzard shad and heading up River wondering if anybody has caught any 40-plus inch stripers on large alewives? Also has anybody caught any large fish down in the State Park area? I'll keep posting here over the next few days and good luck to all of you

I don't know about a 40"+, but I know of a nice fish in the 35-36" range caught jigging a fluke a couple of evenings ago..... so it does not always take bigger bait....
