Went out Thursday evening and caught 24-30 small to medium size gizzards. And did that suck dumping all the mud and yuck on front and a brand-new boat. I told myself with each throw of the net that’s what I bought it for. Had a friend meet me at the dock at 6am and off we went. Headed up river and started watching the fish finders looking for schooling fish. Find lots of bait but no schools so we put out 6 free-lines on boards and 2 floats out back where a couple other boats were trying their luck at. We had no luck and neither were they so we pick up and run back down toward Beaverdam with no luck. We hit a few more spots with no luck and by this time it was getting late in the evening. We decided to head back up toward Moormans and give it one last try. With lines out, fighting leaves and asking the good lord for just one fish for just the fact it was our first time out with the new boat our prayers were answered with the bank side board going off and a nice 28.5” Striper to be thankful for. Reeled in the lines as darkness was setting in and headed home. It was a long day but worth every minute of it for that one fish! I have been striper fishing in a Bass Boat with a foot control trolling motor for 2 years and getting into a Center Console with a Ulterra is SWEET! Is this what you are suppose to be looking for?

Congrats on the new boat, shad slime in the deck and fish in the boat. Thinking that's the green center console I spotted out on Friday - sweet rig and no one will miss that ride! On that sonar shot - thinking that's bait as I've not seen a school of fish that big in a long time

On the sonar, I've seen tightly packed shad that looked similar to that.

Nice report - I like your first mate checking out the fish from the bottom left of the pic!

As for the marking on the sonar I was marking a lot of bait balls but this looked a little different from all the rest. Got a lot to learn with the new equipment. Need to get some experience fisherman on board with me to give some pointers!

I like your first mate checking out the fish from the bottom left of the pic! That's Maverick my sons French Mastiff (which I claim now). Don't drop any shad on the floor, he will eat them like a milk bone!!! I was afraid he would take a bite out of the striper if he had a chance.

Dr. Lowrance and Dr. Hummingbird pale in comparison to you and your net.
