Got on the water around 7am and went searching for bait. The water temp was 51, a big drop from last sunday, and bait was a little tougher to find. Danny got us on it though and we had a nice mix of 5-8" gizzards to start pulling. He had a hit almost right away but it snapped his line pretty quick too unfortunately. We pulled for another 2 hours without much action. Finally Danny had ine chase and roll on his bait but it didnt commit. About 30 minutes later my bank side bait got real nervous and I looked back to see swirls and the bait running on the surface when WHAM! It sounded like a cinder block getting chucked in the water and my drag was screaming. After a stressful fight and being dragged down lake a little ways I finally landed a 36" fatty and my biggest to date. Good luck and tight lines.

The cinder block sound is one that makes my heart pound. From a yak... Looking straight at it... Well that is a heart attack! Great job!

I can relate to being towed. Is the orange cooler your bait tank? How does that work?

I can relate to being towed. Is the orange cooler your bait tank? How does that work? Its a pretty simple set up that Irons turned me onto. Its a hose with a bilge pump run into the cooler with a "spray bar" providing surface agitation, then its jus a pipe run out the side to allow water to drain so it doesnt over flow. Ive had 4 or 5 big baits in it at a time and they do well now that im adding some salt and letting them soak 1st. Plus the cooler water temps as well as air temps are helping too. Oh and the pumps hooked to a switch so i can turn it off and on.

Here is the gist of it but ive since done some mods where the battery and switch are not attached but instead ive wired an outlet through my kayak. I also added a mesh screen as baits were getting trapped on the outlet pipe and clogging evrything up. youtu.be/f9bGzTufTxg
