Every week I modify something and try it out on the lake. This week I experimented with new filters. As shown below, I ordered 3 types of filter media from Puro Kleen. The dark blue, light blue and white are 50, 15 and 5 microns, respectively. I cut two of each and placed the two white filters at the bottom followed by my charcoal and then the two light blue and dark blue (at top of filter box). The water stayed very clean all day and my first impression is that these filters are much easier to clean than sponges. My water has always been clear, thus I didn't notice any improvements in that area. Time will tell. I was lucky enough to find really big bait both in the morning and the afternoon. The picture below shows bait from 10 to a whopping 16 inches. The morning bite was fast and furious. My morning best was 33 inches. The afternoon and evening bite were very slow (COLD FRONT?). My water wolf camera did show me that fish were following the bait but were not even nipping at it. I then decided to finish the evening off with a giant spread of mongos. I placed my 16 inch MONGZILLA on a free line trailing way behind the boat. I trolled for an hour or so with no action. Then...out of nowhere, my pole with MONGZILLA on it started screaming. The result was this absolutely beautiful 37" fish who fought hard but swam away very healthy!

It hurts my eyes even worse in the bright sunlight. I've not only burned a few couches, but a few bridges along the way.......It appears the most valuable thing I have learned on a fishing site was not about fishing after all...... "It's much easier to build a bridge that hasn't been burnt."
