If the weather cooperates I am gonna try to take a friend from work and his son fishing tonight. His boat is down right now. He said last time he was out a couple weeks ago they couldn't find bait at the usual lights. We are just going to anchor and put out shad if we can find any. Don't really care if we catch stripers or cats as long as something is biting. Any advice on where to maybe find some bait? He usually fishes for cats but it would be great to put him and his son on a striper or two. Also any advice on where to fish would be appreciated. We will be putting in near Halesford Bridge. If we get to go I will post a report.

Every creek on the lake just about is full of peanut shad from 3-8". Those smaller ones cut the tails off and put em on the bottom. Bigger ones put those out live on a Carolina rig or under a float if you have means to keep them alive. Anchor up on points and or flats. Wouldn't hurt to try very back of your creeks as well.

Thanks for the advice shadslinger. Just got to work and my buddy says he can't go now. Something has come up and he has to go to NC in the morning. Might try Friday or Saturday night.
