Put in at penhook at 5am to search for some alewives to go with my already caught gizzards from the day before. Got to Xmas tree island and remembered dummy me had got 21 gallons of gas on the way home friday and forgot to add the 2 stroke oil. So back to the truck and back on the trailer she went. Went to the minute market and waited for them to open at 6am. $33 later I'm back at the ramp dumping boat back in the water when my phone beeps. Battery is dead. Don't know why. Charged it all night. Go back to the truck to scramble for a charger. Finally set out up the lake not long before token code goes out. Now about crazyhorse the motor starts cutting in and out at WOT and eventually dies. I had a problem back in the summer with it suckling air at the fuel/water separator filter. I believe this is the problem again. Pump the ball back tight and runs fine again for a spell. Couldn't find my screw driver to bypass separator so spent all day with this aggravating problem and really kept me from traveling to some areas I had originally planned to target. As far as fishing goes, not much to report unfortunately on my end. Beat the banks with gizzards all day midway back of the creeks and also points midway up the blackwater. Had one rod get crushed at daylight but didn't hook up. Shortly after that picked up a small 27" on a freeline 50' behind the boat to atleast get on the board. Rest of the day was dead. 2 or 3 swirls on my bait was it. No clue where I finished. Lower half I'm sure. It was tough fishing and crowded everywhere I went but I enjoyed it. Looking forward to December. It was some real pretty boats out there also. Got to meet a few off the board here as well. Good times. Better luck next time I hope.
On a side note. Thanks for everyone's recommendations on the bait tank filters. I switched to 3 layers of poly foam and a layer of the washable reusable blue filter coheasion recommended. My tank did awesome. Never even changed the water and bait stayed nice and frisky.
