The Jordan Lake Striper Club visited SML this past weekend. We had as many as eight boats there for at least part of the weekend. Weather-wise it was great, although could have done without the full moon, and the fog Sunday morning. From what I could tell everyone caught fish. As far as I know all on the Roanoke side, from the bridge up to about 75. I had my Dad and nephew with me. I wasn’t able to put them on as many fish as I would have liked, but we did catch some decent fish. We fished Friday, Saturday, and a couple hours Sunday morning before leaving for home. We ended up with twelve fish, mostly 28”-30” with a couple bigger, 32" & 36"+. We caught one on a down line, and lost one I would have loved to have seen on a down line. But otherwise, split pretty evenly between free-lines and boards. Bank side and deep side. We fished mostly from 42 up to about 60.
My nephew got the two biggest, both of which were bigger than his personal best (13.5lbs & 17lbs), He also got his first smallmouth. And my Dad got several nice ones too. They did let me reel in one or two.
I think everyone had a good time, wish I lived closer so I could come more often.
