Summary:Big bait started out tough but I am here to tell you that they can be found. Fishing...well its great if you are in the right place at the right time. SAD NOTE:The first morning fishing rotation ended with a lost fish that might be swimming around as we speak being filmed with my water wolf camera. That one hurt! All those memories we shared with that thing... gone!! Don't think I didn't try to find it. I'm still hopeful she will pop up some day. Maybe someone will find it 100 years from now. Fish Notes:I had more rolls and pops than usual with no follow up. To catch those fish, I found that turning back was key. Small bait was not effective. I only caught one big fish and the rest were between 8 - 12 pounds. I did catch a nice 5 lb largemouth and a bonus musky right at dark before going home on Saturday. On one occasion, I was unhooking a fish and two boards went off. It was a very nice thrill but way too much stress for me. Bait Notes:Big bait is tough for me right now. They seem to be scattered in the mud. I was not able to find them on sonar or flipping. The lake seems to be a giant dollar bill fest. However, I was able to finally get into a rhythm and learned that if I want to wake up in the morning with this wonderful sight..... I must make sure that I am making the MONGO FACE! And to try out some different techniques... And to not get discouraged at the little things.... But relish each and every decent looking throw.... Because every now and then...a good throw results in this.... And finally...I realize that if every throw resulted in mongos all the time...I would find something else to do! It's that net full of mongos every 1000 throws or so that keeps me coming back!

So, so, so sorry to hear about WaterWolf. I'm sure that anybody that has ever read this forum will return the camera if found. Your name has carried many conversations. Just yesterday, the only Mongo that we caught was being saved for "the right time". We put it on a board and almost instantly, something was harassing it. I honestly think that the Mongo was chasing small bass around. We went to move and Lee unhooked it and threw it back in the lake..... and said "it's to big, don't tell Yam that I said that". Well, I'm telling on him. You will be surprised, it might find its way home.
Nice pictures..

Great report. Ironically, I ordered one of the those cameras on Friday just for a learning tool. I would never try to get the quality video production that you get. I am going mongo hunting after the Skins game.

Before this year, I was adamant about retying. This particular rod was sitting on my boat for months in the rod storage holders. I pulled it out yesterday and was not vigilant in my inspection of the line.

I really hate to hear about the wolf cam loss. Those sure are some good looking fish you caught. One day I hope to land a toothy critter. Great report!

Did you place it above the swivel or is that typically too far from the bait? The main line ties to the camera holder which has two eyelets. I then simply ran a short leader to the bait. You have a few weights to play with and your leader length is dependent on your speed, clarity, size of bait, etc. The shorter the leader is, the more chance the bait will be in front of the camera. Just realize... It will take some tinkering.

I know it will take some time to fine tune things but that is all part of the fun process as well. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Awesome - so good to see that it isn't just me that could make a nice large blooper reel of net throws.
However, my experience from this past weekend was opposite - I had mongos and dollar bills on all weekend and the only thing that got a siff was 4-5 inch alewives. This was mostly in the BW area but i did spend saturday up around Indian and BeaverDam and had the same thing.
