Got up around 3:30 and had the boat in the water by 5:30 and went on the hunt for same bait. Pulled up to a spot where I have thrown the net 1000 times and on the first throw pulled up two mongos! On the second throw I didn't pull anything up.. literally. The net was stuck on something and it wasn't budging. Ended up only retrieving a weight or two after having to get my cast net back like The way I retrieve a stuck anchor in the ocean. (with a cleat and a 150 Suzuki) Needless to say I wasn't the happiest, the 12 footers cost about 200$ but hey.. I keep a backup net with me! So we proceeded to another spot, ran into yam while he was at the dock and with some guidance from him (thank you yam!) we were able to get about 2 dozen 7"-8" gizzards. Which is really good for me. Rode to our destination and put the boards out. Had the mongo out and get chased which was awesome but nothing wanted to commit! Had about 6 other takes on the boards but it was odd, they would smash it and immediately let go? Didn't really have he chance to set the hook. We did manage 1 smallmouth about 4 pounds or so. Loaded up and headed home about 1 o'clock. Although we didn't land a striper, I enjoyed watching the boards get hammered and that big mongo getting smashed once so it was a success for me. Hopefully I'll be able to find the bait again in 2 weeks for the coming tournament. Thanks again yam for the guidance, it helped after losing a 200$ bill! PS water temps were 67.6 to 69.2 when we left.

If your not tearing up or loosing nets you're not fishing hard enough Seriously, before clearing off if you can manage to get the horn you have a chance of recovering the net - and if you can get your hands on a part of the lead line then you have a really good chance - pull it up and out until you find the section stuck then maneuver the boat to pull from the opposite angle you were. Be patient and slow and you likely will likely get the net back either unharmed - or with minimal repairable damage. Then there are the times as you can do it cleat it off and pull away with the big motor and hope for keeping the rope.....
