Started off Wednesday after i got off work at 5pm. My dad just got into striper fishing and wanted me to go with him on his boat so we set out around 6pm after some bait. Found bait fairly easy not mongos but some decent 7-8 inchers. Found some cleaner water and put out a spread off 6 boards and one float line. Had a fish one 5 mins after setting out had a fight for a few seconds and pop knot breaks, then another fish pop a break, then 30 mins later another break off. I started to look at dads knots and i seen the problem with his breaks. Re tied all his leaders and finally landed his first fish.
That was a great feeling seeing him grin ear to ear after all the mess we had. Then Thursday we set out again on his boat with my mom as well and landed 3 fish right around 630pm in about 69 degree water. Mom had her first striper as well.
Mom fish was the only one harvested due to a deep hook all others released. Then friday john and i set out on my boat for a hunt of big bait. Caught enough to run boards at night and landed only one fish with 2 missed
Called it a night around 930pm.
Saturday john and i took off around 11am with my oldest and her best friend that had never been landed a striper. Ran bait a little deeper being that sun was out and warmer temp. Had action right away in middle of channel lost 2 fish before landing her first striper.
Headed in for some dinner around 5pm and back out at 6pm without the girls i think they got wore out haha. John and had a game plan on where we were goin and i think 8 others did as well lol. Landed 2 fish fast off the bat on bank side boards with mongos.
After that we pulled a few without any love. Then it turned on again around 830pm and landed one on a creek side board running about 15 feet deep.
Decided to make one last pull before calling it and caught another nice one that was in 35 fow and acted like a cat all the way to boat.
Great week of fishing and loving the nicer weather.
