Got over to the lake last night in time to get bait. Went to a near creek and picked up 2 dozen dollar bills. Picked up 12 more 8" - 12" before bed off my light. Up at 5 to get some ales. Put 20 nice medium to large ales and a blue back. First time in moths I've had nice ales and blue backs at my dock. Was on the water by 6:30. Marked a pretty good amount of scattered fish right in front of my house so I put out a spread. Downs light lines weighted boards free line boards and a free line float. Had lots of nervous baits and marked a lot of fish in my down lines but couldn't buy a bite. After about a hour I was going to move, but I couldn't bring myself to leave all of the fish I was marking. Finally a weighted board took off grabbed the rod and it was gone after a few seconds. Broke the leader. Of course it hit the only rod I didn't restring last night. Saw this image all morning. Tried to post a picture there. Not sure if it worked. Tried switching out baits, large ales, smaller ones, bigger shad, dollar bills. Couldn't find anything that worked. Finally got one to hit a dollar bill on a down line to avoid the skunk. It was a nice 30". Had a few pull downs and a bigger shad got really nervous at one point but no takers. About 10 the fish disappeared. I had been marking steadily and then they just disappeared. Headed in about 10:30. None of the free lines got any real attention. All action of any sort was on weighted lines. WT 77. I guess it needs to cool down a few more degrees to get things going. The weather this weekend won't help anything. Family is coming tomorrow. I guess it back to summertime relaxation mode for a few more weeks.

I completely understand your aggravating morning. 😠Happened to me much the same way you described. But all on down lines. One 28 in. Striper and a 21 in. 5 1/2 lb. largemouth. So I will try again tomorrow. Nice report jmr04.
